Tales from my travels: After an exceedingly long day of driving from Ely, Nevada through the countryside and Yosemite we arrived, exhausted, to Santa Cruz. We left our things at the hotel and went in search of food. The girl at the hotel’s front desk got me all excited when she mentioned this place that was located a couple of blocks down and had shown up on the show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The place was busy but everyone was courteous. The menu includes an all-day breakfast, classic comfort foods as well as vegetarian and vegan options. I ordered the teriyaki tofu rice bowl the first night I went with my parents and a build-your-own omelette the second night when I went alone. I especially loved the rice bowl but be warned: portions are big. As we enjoyed our food we looked around, laughing at the many humorous signs that hang on the walls.
