City: Heraklion, Greece

Tales from my travels: After a day of visiting Chania and then the Arkadi monastery, we headed over to Heraklion, the largest city in Crete. We left our things at the hotel and set off in search of a restaurant. We stopped at this restaurant that impressed the passerby with its neoclassical building. We sat outside on the front patio that was illuminated by small lights. The service was great and everything on the menu sounded delicious. It offered traditional Greek food as well as Italian and French fare. I went for the Penne with Mizithra Cheese. As we sat outside we enjoyed the warmth of the night and watched the stray cats nimbly walking on the roofs. We later went for some Ben & Jerry’s and a stroll through the busy, cobbled streets of the city. My parents did not particularly liked Heraklion but I loved it. It had its own charm but maybe its a city that attracts the younger generations.
