Meal: Dinner

Tales from my Travels: This day was not particularly interesting. We basically drove all day to our hotel in the Santa Clara area. I was, of course, in charge of searching for a place to have dinner. I had several options but we decided for the Middle Eastern restaurant because you know how much we love that kind of food! We did have to wait a while for a table (I highly recommend making a reservation). The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious with several vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. I was tempted by several options and had a hard time choosing but in the end I decided to go for the m’shakaleh vegetarian, layers of mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, eggplant and cauliflower with a tomato-yogurt sauce. For the “Classics,” you have the option of basmati rice or freekeh (organic smoked green wheat) as a side dish; I tried to try the freekeh and was not disappointed. The items under “Grill” also come with rice or freekeh and wraps and pitas come with a salad or french fries. It is obviously a very popular local restaurant, highly recommendable and has great options for meat-eaters and veggies alike.
