Tales from my Travels: After our lunch in Asheville (see Well-Bred Bakery & Café), we drove to DuPont State Forest where, I later found out, part of The Hunger Games was filmed. We first walked down to Hooker Falls. They weren’t all that impressive and it was FULL of people. We stayed there for a bit and then headed down the Triple Falls Trail. Before reaching the viewing area, we stopped at a rocky point along the river where my mom and sister relaxed a bit, my sister’s boyfriend revealed his inner, playful child and my dad and I explored the area a bit, jumping from rock to rock. We finally set off along the steep trail to the viewing area of the Triple Falls, which were quite impressive and then continued on up to High Falls. We explored and relaxed a little around the foot of the falls and then decided to head back to Asheville for dinner. I was tempted by a Mediterranean restaurant but, being Saturday, it was completely full. Instead, we went to a neighboring restaurant called Red Ginger Dimsum and Tapas that serves Chinese food (don’t know why the “tapas” part is included since there’s nothing Spanish about the food). They had an extensive list of vegetarian options but I immediately zeroed in on the mushroom dumplings. The others shared some other non-vegetarian plates. It was all quite good and satisfying with great, attentive service.
