Meal: Lunch

Tales from my Travels: We left the Santa Clara area and headed southwest. My dad wanted to search for the site of U2’s Joshua tree in the Mojave desert as well as Death Valley. On our way, we stopped for lunch at Bakersfield. 24th Street Café is open for breakfast and lunch and was established in 1987. Before that, it was Cy’s Coffee Shop, which opened in 1950. As we sat, waiting for our food, I was happily surprised to find that Guy from the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” had been here. It has also won several awards. My parents had regular burgers while I had the Garden burger. They also have sandwiches, salads, some platters and all-day breakfast. (Guy had the Texas-Style Chili.) I was sorely tempted by the little sign on our table, advertising the Pumpkin Pancakes (you know all about my obsession with anything pumpkin!), also tried by Guy. The three of us shared this delicacy for dessert. Delicious!
